About the Event

Artist Perdita Phillips is interested in bringing the non-human world to the attention of audiences. She has worked with termites, thrombolites (structures created in shallow water by micro-organisms), rabbits (land degradation), salmon gum trees, urban wetlands, weeding, and stygofauna (animals that live in groundwater systems).

Many years ago, as part of learning from the environment first-hand, she started walking. Walking led to listening and listening led to sound recording. She is currently listening to the drains and springs of Albany for the Follow the Water project.

Join Perdy to find out more about the art of ecological listening and the role of outdoor sound recording in art.

This event is supported by the Australian Government’s Regional Arts Fund
